A good night's sleep is necessary for you to be able to cope with stress, solve problems, or recover from illness. Most adults need about 8 hours of sleep a night and children and teens require more. Lack of sleep can lead to impaired memory, slower thought processes, depression, an impaired immune system, and impaired judgment.

Difficulty sleeping can stem from many different problems. Physical conditions such as sleep apnea and restless legs syndrome can interfere with a good night’s sleep. Your mental state can also disrupt sleep patterns. Anxiety and depression are often at the root of sleep problems. Most insomnia is caused by excessive worry and anxiety.
