Depression

Let us help you.

Do you have feelings of guilt, worthlessness or helplessness? Are you irritable or restless?  Do you persistently feel sad, anxious or empty?  Hypnosis can help.

Hypnosis can effectively reduce your symptoms of depression.  Right now, you might feel as though things that were once pleasant are now miserable. You might no longer enjoy the things you used to love. You can’t look on the bright side of life. You feel sad all the time.  Hypnosis can help in eliminating those feelings.

Depressive thoughts can greatly harm your quality of life. Depressed individuals have a negative view of their self, a negative view of the world and a negative view of the future. Mildly and severely depressed individuals find themselves in situations that are enormously painful and who need help to find a way out. It can affect a person physically, causing problems such as over or under eating, sleep disturbance, a lowered sex drive, a decrease in pleasure or interest, fatigue and anxiety. Cognitively, depression can affect a person’s ability to think clearly, making it difficult to concentrate, impair memory and cause errors in judgment and decision making.

Depression has many causes. Day to day living may have become more stressful, along with changes in society, a higher divorce or separation rate, and the general breakup of families, job insecurity, being overweight, being too thin. You may not perceive yourself as successful, even with a nice car, house or loving family. Pressures on children to do better at school, with the now increasing vast array of subjects, can lead to despair, frustration, anxiety, helplessness or hopelessness. Of course not everyone who experiences these problems or stresses becomes depressed. There can be many underlying medical and psychological disorders that create depression where a full investigation is required.

Any person young or old, male or female can become depressed. Depression is increasing in all age groups, but particularly in the younger teenage group. Females tend to experience depression twice as frequently as males, and depression is estimated around 40% more common in children that have grown up with a depressed parent. There are numerous individuals (thought to be 50%) who go untreated because either they
don’t know they are depressed or a consultation with a doctor fails to diagnose depression.

Whether it is clinical depression, major depressive illness or post natal depression, mild, severe, with or without suicidal idealization, you have the ability to reduce your symptoms if you want to. It is a very important step to recognize depression and then to obtain help.

How does hypnosis help?

Depression is manageable and recovery is highly likely if approached intelligently and by a skilled therapist. Hypnosis is a tool a therapist can use to help you break out of negative thought patterns and learn to view the world in a more positive light.

The number of sessions necessary varies depending on the individual and the severity of their depression; but most can be resolved in a few sessions. Some individuals may need more. An initial consultation session is necessary to customize your treatment and make the hypnosis as effective as possible.
